Preparation steps

Prepare the apples (10 minutes). Wash, peel and cut the apples into thin slices or cubes.

Whisk the eggs with sugar (8 minutes). Whisk the eggs with a mixer with sugar and vanilla sugar until thick and fluffy. The mixture should increase in volume by 2–3 times.

Combine the dry ingredients (3 minutes). Mix the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl.

Knead the dough (5 minutes). Gently fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture, stirring with a spatula from the bottom up to keep it light and fluffy.

Prepare the baking tin (2 minutes). Grease the tin with butter and place some of the apples on the bottom.

Assemble the pie (3 minutes). Pour the dough over the apples and place the remaining apples on top.

Bake (30 minutes). Place the tin in an oven preheated to 180 °C. Bake until golden brown. Check if it is ready with a skewer — it should come out dry.

Cool and serve (5 minutes). Allow the pie to cool slightly, remove from the tin, cut and serve with tea or coffee.
